The role requires the ability to critically assess and anticipate our family law attorney's needs in serving clients and managing workloads. It involves the following job duties, in addition to others that may be assigned to meet business and client needs:

  • Create and edit legal documents and correspondence by following written or verbal directions.

  • Fax, scan and photocopy documents; maintain efficient and organized files.

  • Review/analyze file and document contents to assist the attorney in identifying key information or information gaps.

  • Update and manage attorney calendars.

  • Assist with client meetings.

  • Assist with court hearings and witness depositions.

  • Skill in the use of various computer software programs (Microsoft Office and other applications).

  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms, documents, practices and procedures.

  • Skill in prioritizing work assignments, organization and critical thinking.

  • Ability to create documents using correct English spelling, grammar and punctuation; review legal documents to identify inaccuracies or omissions.

  • Strong focus on attention to detail in all work and seeing all work through to its logical conclusion.

  • Ability to confidently and effectively interact with clients, firm attorneys, and other firm employees in a team environment.

  • Ability to confidently and effectively interact with judges, court staff and outside legal representatives.

  • Maintaining confidentiality and using discretion and tact.

Opening for a full-time Document Management Specialist in Lincoln, NE.

OVERVIEW | The Document Management Specialist, is a key position responsible for assisting Legal Secretaries, Legal Assistants and Attorneys in digitizing and processing all documents that come into the Firm whether it be electronic or paper. Aside from processing incoming mail and supplemental materials the Document Management Specialist assists in other duties and projects that help create a more efficient flow of tasks throughout the Firm. It is important that the Document Management Specialist be highly analytical and organized, someone who can thrive in a deadline-oriented environment, as well as someone who works well in a collaborative and team-oriented workplace.


HOURS AND STATUS | The Document Management Specialist position is a full-time position generally working approximately forty (40) hours per week, however, some additional hours may be needed to meet Firm operational needs. Remote work is normally unavailable as business necessity requires in-person attendance for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS | While the Firm seeks these qualifications for this position, the Firm reserves the right to consider experience in lieu of education and to determine the best combination of education and experience appropriate for the position.


Qualifying Education

    • Preferred: Four year college degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in business, accounting or finance.

Qualifying Experience

    • Preferred: Significant prior experience working in a law or other professional firm.

OVERVIEW | The Billing Specialist, a member of the Business Office staff, is a key position responsible for coordinating the billing and maintenance of client accounts.  The Billing Specialist will perform monthly billing of client accounts, as well as performing reviews of billing documents and generating reports as needed.  This position requires a highly detailed and reliable person who is team-oriented and has the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality along with a thorough understanding of billing software and processes.
