Job Description
In this position, you will track and maintain the firms licensing system. You will be responsible for supporting a variety of internal projects, conducting research and analyzing state regulations, and preparing and submitting professional licensing documents. You will also work in a variety of software programs, attend meetings, and coordinate with state board organizations.

Ameritas is seeking a Paralegal to drive the business by providing advanced support staff for the Ameritas Legal Department. This position is responsible for performing substantive legal work that requires significant knowledge of a variety of legal concepts. This position performs various administrative and specifically delegated legal support tasks and legal functions under the direct supervision of the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation/Dispute Resolution. By maintaining confidential and close responsive relationships with the department associates and associates throughout the Ameritas organization, this incumbent assists in promoting an ethical environment and in providing proactive legal services implementing effective legal risk management.
This associate has the express duty to comply with all applicable insurance laws and regulations and with approved company policies, practices and procedures related to ethical market conduct activities. This associate further has the responsibility to immediately report known or suspected violations of laws, regulations and company policies, practices and procedures to the organization's chief compliance officer.
Essential Functions:
The Paralegal position will manage and prioritize confidential projects from multiple sources, achieving high quality results within required time frames. This position will function as a team member by providing back-up during peak or time-off periods. The incumbent is responsible for providing litigation support, preparing letters, memos, pleadings, agreements, and documents. This position will maintain and monitor logs for legal opinions, and other departmental requests and prepare the necessary documents, as well as complete the following tasks:
Regularly act as point of contact and interface with associates, business leaders and, persons outside of Ameritas
Assembles information for various periodic reporting, assist attorney to develop standardized forms for standard legal documents, and requests, records management, and offsite storage/retrieval coordination
Assists in fact-gathering and obtaining documents related to audits, organizing and maintaining procedures for various reports, responses to inquiries, and other requests for information
Assists in preparation of required filings, reports, agendas and resolutions
Communicates with many departments and officers to obtain necessary information
Prepares and updates memoranda, letters, agreements and other complex legal documents under attorney supervision
Processes bills, invoices and requests for reimbursement for approval and payment, processes mail and distribute to associates throughout the company, and makes travel arrangements for attorneys
Regularly handles sensitive and/or confidential materials with the utmost confidence
Schedules, coordinates and may participate in meetings
Required Knowledge and Skills:
2-4 years experience in paralegal role
Paralegal certificate or paralegal degree
Excellent oral and written communication skills and proofreading skills
Exercise discretion in handling confidential matters
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Demonstrate creativity, ingenuity, and a motivation to produce high quality documents
Focus on attention to detail and organizational skills
Familiarity with legal documents, contracts and terminology, etc.
Able to work well both independently and as part of a team (strong relationship building)
